OrCAD Schematics TUTORIAL by Vikas Shukla of ReferenceDesigner.com

Connecting Components

We will now connect these components with wire. One end of the resistor will connect to one end of the connector. The other end of the connector will connect to the Diode and so on.Click on the Place wire button . Move the cursor close to the one end of resistor and left click. Then move the cursore to the one end of the connector and click left again. You should see a read wire connecting the resistor with the connector. Right click and click "End Wire".

Repeat the same process and add all connections.

Adding Power and Ground

We will now add Power and ground to the Schematics. Click on the Place Power button. For power Select the VCC Symbol. Place at somewhere at the junction of Resistor and Connector. If it is at some distant place from the wire, connect it with Add Wire.

We will repeat the thing similarly for adding ground connection. Click on the Place Ground Button. Select the GND Symbol. Place at somewhere at the junction of Diode and Connector. If it is at some distant place from the wire, connect it with Add Wire.

This completes the basic Schematics. Save this file. In the next page we will see how to set the footprint property, perform DRC check and generate a netlist for PADS.
